Supplier Quality Engineer - Seymour, CT

JOB SUMMARY:

Conduct Supplier Quality activities responsible for managing development projects, quality improvements, supplier development, and continuous improvement processes. Manage supplier, internal and external quality issues in regards to supplier parts. Ensure supplier quality for Thule Group, lead the supplier initiatives within the quality field. Ensure suppliers are delivering and performing with the right quality in new development projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create/maintain documentation, logs and procedures in accordance to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and IATF 16949:2016 standards.
2. Help create or improve and implement supplier quality systems, processes and programs.
3. Monitor and ensure compliance with current policies, procedures, regulatory and customer requirements for suppliers
4. Lead person coordinating supplier (internal and external) quality project activities
5. Responsible for driving, leading supplier development projects
6. Document and analyze returned supplier product and suggest quality/design improvements.
7. Develop methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation at suppliers
8. Help suppliers improve quality systems and processes through training, audits and inspection checklists.
9. Main responsible for driving supplier KPI performance
10. Responsible for supplier quality in new development projects on the factory floor at suppliers
11. Ownership of supplier PPAP (documentation and verification at factory floor and IMDS)
12. Effectively utilize Six-Sigma tools and principles to problem solve and optimize systems
13. Performing quality and sustainability audits at suppliers
14. Securing supplier quality into Thule factories by acting as a link between supplier and site operations;
15. Escalating supplier quality issues coming from site operations
16. Conduct gage calibration and the purchase of new gages.
17. Facilitator of FMEA’s and Core Quality tools.
18. Team member of project teams representing supplier quality.
19. Other functions as required and assigned by supervisor.

RECOMMENDED POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Engineering degree required, 5-7 years of experience minimum
2. Good understanding of Supplier Quality Systems development and implementation, auditing, receiving goods sampling and inspection methods (including surface plate and comparator), quality tools and techniques, SPC/SQC, and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and IATF 16949:2016 standards.
3. Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, IMDS principles, customer specific requirements
4. 5-7 years experience in supplier quality role, international environment a plus.
5. 5 years experience in auditing (VDA, IATF 16949)
6. Computer literate in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of M3 system is a plus.
7. Self motivated, action oriented individual
8. Proven skills of multitasking and decision making.
9. Good oral and written communication skills
10. Experience training in both a classroom environment and on-the-job
